Aquatest NO3 for measurement of the nitrate concentration in the range of 0 – 150 mg/L

Why measure NO3?

Since nitrates provide ideal conditions for algae growth, its concentration above 40 mg/L is undesirable and has adverse effects on aquariums and garden ponds. The nitrate concentration above 80 mg/L becomes harmful to fish, whereas the levels above 120 mg/L are not acceptable in fish tanks due to its highly negative effect on aquarium inhabitants. If the concentration of nitrate is above permissible limits, that is the indication of the presence of protein waste substances in excess. Although nitrate present in aquarium water is much less dangerous in comparison with ammonia and nitrite, its content should be controlled and limited in time.

Aquatest NO3 set contains:
  • 2 bottles with reagent solutions
  • a container with the powder of the reducing agent
  • a colour scale
  • a spatula
  • a test tube
  • a syringe
  • manual
Easy to use:
  • add suitable reagents sequentially to the measured water sample according to the instruction
  • match the obtained colour with the corresponding colour scale to read the result.
How to prevent excess nitrates?

If nitrate concentration is above 40 mg/L, you need to change part or most of the water depending on how much the limit is exceeded. High nitrate levels mean the fish tank, substrate, and filters need cleaning. Sometimes, the number of fish in the aquarium may also need to be reduced.
