Aquatest CO2 for accurate and fast measurement of the dioxide carbon concentration in water.

Why measure carbon dioxide?

Carbon dioxide is a gas with good water solubility. Since carbon dioxide is used by plants for photosynthesis, measuring its content in aquariums with vegetation is of considerable importance. Carbon dioxide content in aquarium water below an acceptable level may adversely affect plant growth, but on the other hand, its elevated concentration poses danger to fish. The optimal concentration of carbon dioxide dissolved in water should be kept in the range of 15 – 30 mg/L. When using an external source of CO2, it is important to ensure a suitable level of dissolved oxygen in the water. Otherwise, fish and other animals inhabiting the aquarium may suffer from oxygen deficiency.

Aquatest CO2  contains:

  • a bottle with reagent 1
  • a bottle with reagent 2 (2 pcs.)
  • a syringe
  • a test tube
  • instructions for use
  • a colour chart

How to use:

  • the reagent should be added drop by drop to the measured water sample
  • match the obtained colour with the corresponding colour scale to read the result (the measurement results are read in mg/L).

How to stabilize the level of carbon dioxide?

Regular control of carbon dioxide concentration in the water by the aid of Aquatest CO2 is recommended. In the case of elevated CO2 level, it is advisable to limit CO2 supply and enhance water aeration.
